how much is a dental check up?
This depends on what you have done. Generally it can cost between 50-150 euros. Depending on what diagnostic tests are required.
Taking x rays and 3D scans can lead to a higher cost but these are required for more complex or cosmetic treatments.
Generally your initial visit will cost 50 euros and if anything more is required it will be discussed. If you are PRSI eligible this will cover you once a year for this and if you are covered via insurance this will cover you for two visits a year but will need to be checked as every policy differs.
how often do you need a dental check up
In most cases we recommend a dental check up twice a year. If we feel like we need to keep a closer eye on you then we may see you more often and similarly if we feel you are very low risk then we may see you once a year.
Only after a dental check up can we advise you of this and give you a personalised plan to ensure long term oral health.
how long does dental check-up take?
Dental check ups can last from 30 mins to 1hr. This again depends on the complexity of the treatment needed.
The initial visit is usually 30 mins and if we need more time we will explain this to you. Our main goal is to make sure no stone is left unturned and you know all your options. We want you to leave confident you understand everything about your mouth and armed with the knowledge of how to keep your mouth as healthy as possible and smile exactly how you want.
how much does a dental check up cost without insurance?
Generally your initial dental check up visit with us will cost 50 euros. If you have PRSI then this can cover you once a year.
do dentists clean teeth at check up?
Dentists generally don’t clean teeth at your initial visit. However if you wish this to be done at the same time you can discuss this with reception when booking and they can book you a slot to see our hygienist at the same time.
This will result in your mouth being examined and cleaned on the same day which will be putting your dental plan into action from the start.
what to do before dentist check up
First of all have a good feel and look around before your initial dentist check up. This means you can explain any concerns or wishes to us in detail. This information is very helpful to us as it means we can give a tailored plan which suits you and addresses anything you are worried out.
can I get a dentist check up when pregnant
Pregnancy is a time where your body is going through big changes. This also impacts your mouth. It can lead to gums being more sensitive and bleeding more. A dental check up is always advised when you are pregnant and recommended. Sometimes your body is more sensitive to plaque and regular cleaning will be beneficial.
how much does it cost for check up at dentist with a child
Children generally cost 40 euros for a check up. With children we are focusing on building good oral hygiene habits which will last them a life time.
Any damage to teeth at a young age will last patients throughout their life. If they get off to a good start then it can mean less dental treatment and therefore less dental anxiety as they grow up.
