PRSI Dental Benefits
The PRSI Dental Scheme from the Department of Social Protection helps eligible adults who have enough PRSI contributions reduce the cost of routine care. With valid PRSI you get one free dental exam each calendar year and one scale and polish covered up to €42.84, paying only any difference. If gum disease is diagnosed, you may also get a once-yearly contribution toward periodontal (deep) cleaning.
What PRSI covers
1 routine dental examination per year.
1 scale and polish per year, covered up to €42.84.
A contribution toward periodontal treatment once per year if gum disease is present.
What PRSI does not cover
X-rays and scans.
Preventive extras like fluoride, sealants, oral prophylaxis beyond the scale and polish allowance.
Restorative care: fillings, crowns, root canals.
Extractions and oral surgery.
Orthodontics.
Cosmetic dentistry: whitening, veneers, contouring.
Tooth replacement: implants, dentures, bridges.
Children’s dentistry. PRSI applies to qualifying adults only.
